Screenings in Idaho, Oregon, and San Diego, Plus Plans for Fall

Hollywood Theater

We are so thrilled to announce that we will be holding the Portland, OR premiere of Walking the Camino: Six Ways to Santiago at the Hollywood Theater on Friday, September 6th! Our stay at the Hollywood is guaranteed to last through Friday, September 13th and, if there is enough demand, we will be extended another week. Please tell everyone you know in the Portland area to come out and support this local project! If you can lend a hand to put up posters or send out some emails, please contact our coordinator: alicia@caminodocumentary.org.

For our opening night, we will have a raffle, prizes, and a Q&A session with Director/Producer Lydia B. Smith and Producer Sally Bentley after the film. Raffle will include a one week trip on the Camino donated generously by Follow the Camino. There will be Q&A sessions after the Saturday & Wednesday screenings as well. In coordination with the premiere, we will be holding a fundraising swim/eat/drink party on the Willamette River on September 8th. This will be complete with more raffle prizes, giveaways, wine, beer and appetizers. Wine From Galicia, one of our sponsors, is generously providing delicious red and white wine for the event. Tickets will be available on the Hollywood website starting Monday, August 5th. If you can’t make the screenings on either Friday or Saturday, and want to come to the party, send us an email at info@caminodocumentary.org and we’ll set you up.

2ndAfter our Portland premiere, Lydia will be heading to Boise, ID for two screenings and a free Camino tutorial, combined with author Kurt Koontz’s worldwide book launch on September 14th. We are very grateful to Kurt for organizing and promoting this event. Click here to learn more about Kurt and his book. Tickets are on sale now at this link. We will be posting more information through our Facebook and our website.

Other upcoming confirmed screenings include Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival (likely showing dates will be between November 5th and 11th), and the La Costa Film Festival in San Diego between October 24th and the 27th.

Meanwhile, we are awaiting word from many film festivals all over the world. At the bottom of this page is a list of festivals we are hoping to get into this coming fall. If you feel inspired to contact them and let them know you hope they accept us into their festival, it most certainly would increase our chances.

3rdLydia recently attended the Galway Film Fleadh in Ireland, along with featured pilgrim/co-producer Annie O’Neil at the Topanga Film Festival in Los Angeles. In both cases, we were the first documentary to sell out days before the festival even began. While in Ireland, a fantastic tour group called Follow the Camino organized a very successful fundraising screening in Dublin. A huge thank you goes out to Follow the Camino for their support. Keep your eyes open for more events in Ireland in the near future!
