Happy Holiday Greetings! Here at the office, we have some very exciting announcements!
1) From the remaining 298+ hours of footage not included in the documentary, we have created a DVD now available for purchase! With more than 2 hours of deleted and unseen footage, this Bonus Materials DVD gives you a behind-the-scenes access to more of the Camino’s history, a glimpse into hospitalero life, a deeper look at the pilgrims featured in the film, and tells the stories of many other pilgrims encountered along the way. The DVD is currently sold through our online store (along with lots of other great gifts) and this is a limited edition so order early! Although it is currently backordered, more are expected to be in stock in the next few days. Please note: this is not the feature film, it is only bonus material. As such, we suggest you see the finished film first. This Bonus Materials DVD is recommended just for folks that already have seen the film. If you can’t wait – we understand…
After surviving on donations for five years, we are now attempting to be self-sustaining and so appreciate your purchases. Most films budget as much or more on marketing than they do even in making the film. The only money we have for distribution/marketing is what we make from merchandise and box office sales. THANK YOU for your continued support!
2) We are so excited to announce that Walking the Camino: Six Ways to Santiago will be going on a cross-country film tour starting in mid-February 2014! Lydia cashed in some of her retirement, got a great financing plan and purchased an RV. We are getting it wrapped in vinyl in Walking the Camino style and we’ll be driving it across the U.S., opening in a different city or two each weekend with Lydia (or special guest) doing a Q&A session after the screenings.
Lydia and Maggie (Marketing/Outreach Coordinator) plan to go on tour with thoughtful intention, treating the tour as a pilgrimage in and of itself; our greatest hope is that you accompany us on the journey, whether that be by showing up and volunteering at a screening or following us on our soon-to-be tour blog and/or spreading the word to your friends in other cities; we want our supporters and fellow pilgrims to share in this exciting chapter of the documentary’s journey.
This is your film, too, and we want to know where you’d like to see Walking the Camino play! In order to do so in an orderly manner, please click on the link below that will take you to a survey in which you’ll be able to vote for the metropolitan city nearest you and leave us any suggestions in the comments section:

Also, click here to check out a sweet video of the actual RV that we’ll be going on tour with and make sure to stay tuned to your email inbox and our Facebook page for the latest info about the tour!
3) Last but not least, we film will have its Seattle premiere starting Friday February 7th at the SIFF Uptown Cinema. This is a couple of months away still, but we wanted to let you know about it so you can put it on your calendars and tell all of your Seattle-area friends and family about it. We are also looking for volunteers to help pass out flyers and postcards around the city a couple of weeks before the screenings begin. If you would be willing to help us do so, please send Maggie an email at camino.outreach@gmail.com. If you have any suggestions about stores, organizations, businesses, outdoors/hiking groups, or anyone else to contact in Seattle, please send us that information as well.
4) This just in – Walking the Camino will have a special reception at Salem Cinema with Director/Producer Lydia B. Smith on Tuesday January 28th and opening starting Friday January 31st for a limited engagement screening. If you missed it in Portland, Oregon, here’s your chance to see it!
Thank you so much, Walking the Camino supporters. You are wonderful and we are so thankful for all of your support!
Wishing you a very happy holiday season filled with time with loved ones and lots of long walks. From our Camino family to yours, ¡Buen Camino!

For Lydia: we met at Esalen last week and I just wanted to let you know that I saw the film yesterday (1/5/14) at the Rafael Theater in San Rafael. I loved it: the cinematography, stories and pilgrims, music, and SPIRIT of the film were so moving! I cried, laughed, and connected with it in so many ways. I was especially grateful to have met you and gain a more personal connection during our hike last week. So Thank you again for making such a beautiful movie about the Camino. I will certainly consider making this journey for myself some day!
Wishing you all the abundance you deserve in 2014,
Deni
Saw your great movie yesterday in Tacoma, WA. Brought back a lot of memories of our short walk on the Camino in 2012 (Sarria to Santiago). We are walking the Camino again this September starting in Pamplona with friends who were with us yesterday. What a terrific movie you put together! We intend to bring our son and his girl friend in March for the next movie engagement.
Wow, I accidentally ran across the movie theater listing last Thursday (day before the film opened in Scottsdale Harkins). I saw the film on my way home from work and the theater was packed. Not sure what drew me to it but I’m thinking walking the walk will be one of my post retirement adventures. Thank you for the wonderful stories and beautiful cinematography. What a beautiful way to get to know yourself and interact with others in a shared adventure.
I would love very much to be able to view your movie. When will you be on the east coast of the US?
Hi James,
We are touring with the film right now in theaters throughout the U.S. We will announce East Coast dates soon, so be on the lookout for that. For a list of current screenings, please refer to our Screenings page. We expect to announce screenings in New York, NY and Washington, D.C. shortly.
Thanks!

I plan on doing the walk this fall and wanted to purchase a dvd of your documentary. Is this possible? My daughter saw the film yesterday in Albuquerque and loved it. thank you and I wish you the best. Alene
Hi Alene,
Our U.S. tour is in full swing in theaters across the country. We will not be selling the feature film DVD until the tour is finished, but we should know more later this year. While it is not possible to purchase a DVD of the feature film at this time, it should be available in late 2014 or early 2015.
Thanks!
