Film Updates and New Blog Experiment

Sarah on the Willamette River

¡Buen Camino peregrinos! We have been celebrating the new year by – you guessed it – working diligently on the film. There have been a few changes to the film since our last blog update, so we thought we’d fill you in on some of the new and exciting things that we’ve been up to, as well as reveal a special surprise that we hope you’ll be as excited about as we are!

You may have noticed from one of our previous blog posts that the title of the film is officially changing to Walking the Camino. There is still much work to be done and nearly every aspect of the film is still under constant scrutiny. Presently we are focused on sound mix, music, and graphics. As our designer Marta works on the graphics and titles, the pieces are really starting to fall into place now and it’s making a world of difference in terms of making the film look polished. By the way, if you didn’t catch the Facebook post, Marta is also a pilgrim! It is so fitting (and by no means a coincidence) that so many of our volunteers and staffers have walked the Camino; it really makes the whole process feel like it is coming full circle. This is a film by pilgrims, for pilgrims – and potential pilgrims too! And speaking of pilgrims, back to that surprise…

Tomas’ identifier as Marta has designed it. In the film industry, this is known as a “lower third” due to its position in the frame.

One of our volunteers, who is herself a pilgrim and travel blogger, had the brilliant idea of doing a series of question and answer blog posts. We know you are curious about certain aspects of the film and walking the Camino, so we are going to open our blog and Facebook page up to your questions. Do you have a burning question that you would like to ask about the filmmaking process? Maybe you are getting ready to do your first Camino and are looking for advice. Either way, drop us a line by posting a comment here on our blog, leaving a message on our Facebook page, or emailing me at sarah@caminodocumentary.org. Your questions will be answered in upcoming blog posts and this will be a regular part of our blog starting in February.

We will still continue to post pieces from pilgrim bloggers about their Camino experiences, but with our new Q&A posts, you get to decide the content! Think of it as a less anonymous Camino forum, where you already know the backgrounds of the people answering your questions. Until next time, we look forward to seeing what you come up with!

UPDATE: We are excited to announce our recent acceptance into the American Documentary Film Festival in Palm Springs April 4-8th! If any of you live in Palm Springs and would be able to be advise us about promoting the film there, please contact Chad at: chad@caminodocumentary.org.
