Newport, Rainier Independent Film Festival, New Ashland Screenings, and More

¡Buen Camino!

As you may already know, our recent world premieres in Ashland Independent Film Festival and AmDocs in Palm Springs were both major successes. We proudly took home the Audience Favorite Award (American film) at AmDocs and became the first film to sell out in Ashland, selling out all four regular screenings three weeks before, and a fifth bonus screening on the day tickets became available.

Because of the high demand for our film in Ashland, we are excited to announce that we are returning for a week of benefit screenings from May 3rd to May 9th at the Varsity Theater in Ashland, OR!  If you haven’t seen the film yet, check out the Varsity Theatre’s page to buy tickets. (Scroll to the bottom of the page for our film, then click on the screening time you prefer.) Lydia will be moderating Q&A sessions for the May 4th and May 5th screenings so snatch up your tickets fast as they are almost certain to sell out again!

At 9am on Friday May 3rd, Lydia will be a guest on the Jefferson Exhange radio show with Jeff Riley, a very popular local radio show that broadcasts to Jefferson County Oregon. Live streaming can be found at jeffexchange.org. You can call toll-free at 1-800-838-3760, or Rogue Valley 541-552-6782 or e-mail questions about the film, or for Lydia to jx@jeffnet.org. Once the show is over, it will be posted on their website at jeffexchange.org.

NewportLydia has spent this past week in Southern California at the Newport Beach Film Festival. Prior to the festival, Walking the Camino remained in the top 10 on the festivals “buzz page,” which uses certain stats to identify the most buzzed about films in the festival.

Even with this exciting feat, we weren’t sure if we would be able to sell out our showings at this festival, as it is the biggest festival we have been a part of, with over 350 films and a very competitive documentary selection. Our uncertainty quickly vanished, however, as we sold out both of our screenings by Friday morning, a day before our first screening! Once again, Walking the Camino was given a bonus screening, making it the only documentary in the festival to have three screenings. Our final screening will be this Wednesday, May 1st at 2:30pm.

RainierIn other news, Walking the Camino was recently invited to screen at Rainier Independent Film Festival in Ashford, WA. While in Ashland, we reconnected with Warren Etheredge, a programmer for the Rainier Independent Film Festival, who graciously invited us to participate in his festival. Normally, we have to submit an application along with a payment in order to be considered for a festival, but now festivals are starting to ask us to participate! Along with Rainier, several other festivals have invited to screen with them in the fall of this year. If you are in the Pacific Northwest, this is a great opportunity for you to see the film! Our screening will be on May 11th at 3pm Make sure you get them fast, and tell your friends! You can buy RIFF tickets here.

After all these upcoming screenings, we are looking forward to screening the film in Spain for the Festival de Cine y Television Camino de Santiago on June 6th. This screening will coincide with another walking tour of the Camino starting May 27th. There are still a few spots left if you want to join us on this once in a lifetime trip! To commemorate our screening in the city in which we filmed, we are holding a very special VIP gala that will be open to cast, crew, funding producers, and major donors. If you fall in one of those categories, please contact us so we can include you in this list. Additional details will become available as they are decided, so make sure to check out our Facebook page regularly.

¡Gracias!

Thanks for your interest. We don’t know when the DVD will be out as we don’t have the money to put one together just yet.

When we do, we will be sure to announce it on the blog and our Facebook page, so make sure to check back regularly.
