Walking the Camino May Be Coming to a Theatre Near You!

Sarah on the Willamette River

The moment you have been waiting for is nearly upon us, dear pilgrims. The official premiere of Walking the Camino: Six Ways to Santiago is set for the big screen!

The post-production staff has been working tirelessly on the final cut. Then came the audio, including specially composed music; and the graphics, including maps and text identifiers for places and people appearing on-screen. Throughout the post-production process, the film was submitted to numerous festivals and we are excited to tell you that it will be premiering at two festivals simultaneously the first weekend in April – the American Documentary Film Festival and the Ashland Independent Film Festival!

Both festivals take place on the West Coast – Palm Springs, CA and Ashland, OR  – so Camino fans in other parts of the world may still be in for a bit of a wait. The good news is that a major focus for any film on the festival circuit is to secure distribution. Lydia will be doing her best to find a way for the film to reach a wider audience. One idea we are tossing around is that of a live fundraising event. For a fee, viewers can login online to join the event, then watch the film and participate in a question and answer session later. If you’re still wondering when you can catch the film in a theater or computer screen near you, fear not! The answer is coming soon.

Work is continuing on the credits at present. This is no small feat considering the hundreds and hundreds of people who have worked on, volunteered, donated, or otherwise put their own time, money, and effort into the film. Lydia and the crew are so grateful for each and every one of you, and it is so very important to us that each contributor is thanked accordingly. It is for this reason that the credits are of the utmost importance, but with so many people to keep track of over so many years it is extremely difficult not to overlook somebody. Therefore, apologies in advance! The Ashland and American Documentary festivals need the finished film by March 15 for everything to be ready for the April premieres. Things are going to be pretty hectic at Walking the Camino headquarters for a while!

A first-rate publicist has also been brought onto the Camino payroll; we are pleased to introduce Lyla Foggia as the newest member of the Camino team! Lyla’s credits include Splash and E.T. so we know we are in good hands. While we are happy to have Lyla on board, we still need volunteers to help spread the word about the film screenings and post flyers. If you or anyone you know would like to help out, drop us a line at info@caminodocumentary.org. Thanks, and ¡buen camino!

  1. Just saw your film last night (05/03) in Ashland and am so moved by its revelations. Thank you for devoting yourself to this meaningful, joyful work.

What is the title of the Tyler Stenson closing song?

    Sending big hugs,
    Stephanie

      Hi Stephanie,

Thanks for checking out the film. We are so glad you liked it! To answer your question, the Tyler Stenson song is titled “Best Laid Plans.” Hope this helps.
