Lydia’s Second Camino; Screening Updates

¡Buen Camino!

The past few weeks have seen Lydia traveling almost constantly in order to attend various Walking the Camino screenings and events. We sold out our first two screenings at Newport Beach Film Festival. They gave us a third which did well, so we were rewarded with a fourth and fifth screening. We are the first film in the festival’s history to receive five screenings! We were awarded Outstanding Achievement in Documentary Filmmaking here as well. The film also impressed the crowd at the Rainier Independent Film Festival, where we took home the Best Documentary Award.

Our run of very successful Ashland benefit screenings is soon coming to a close on June 11th. So if you haven’t caught the film at the Varsity Theatre yet, there is still time! Originally scheduled for only two weeks, we have been extended into our sixth week due to the film’s popularity!

Lydia just wrapped up a two week stay in Spain where she, along with producer Sally Bentley and supporter Sienna, held a week-long walking tour of the Camino, complete with guided meditations held by Lydia. This tour culminated with our European premiere of the film at the Festival Camino de Santiago Cine y TV on June 3rd in Santiago de Compostela. This screening was an invite-only event that reunited much of the cast and crew for the first time since the film was made. What better way to hold our European premiere than in the Camino’s final destination? We also held a second screening in Spain on June 6th that was open to the public.

Once back at our home base of Portland, OR, Lydia and the staff will continue to focus on raising the funds necessary to create our DVDs, pay for film festival fees (travel, entry costs, publicity), and pay our small staff while we are on the hunt for a distributor.

It’s no small feat, but with the encouragement and inspiration of supporters like you, it’s easy to stay motivated! As always, thank you for your support!

Thank you for your interest. We did submit to Hot Docs but sadly were rejected and so will not be screening there. If you would like to see the film in your area, please write a letter to your local festivals saying you’d like our movie to be included in the program.
